Outreach

In addition to research, I often lead astronomy outreach programs and am the graduate student representative for the UF Department of Astronomy outreach committee. When presenting to the public, my goal is always to depict astronomy as a fun and fascinating field that is accessible to anyone.

I work with the Scientist in Every Florida School (SEFS) program to connect with local educators and bring astronomy education to underpriviledged parts of Florida. Usually, this involves bringing UF's mobile planetarium and giving shows at K-12 schools, public libraries, and parks. I also have given talks about astronomy topics, led astronomy demonstrations and activities, and helped with public observing events. In total, I have participated in nearly 40 outreach events, which have cumulatively been attended by almost 3,000 people.
